7And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly… -Acts 6:7

We’re just finishing up our Viva Revolution series here at Revolution and I am getting absolutely stoked for what God is going to do at Rev and in all of our students lives. We’re called to revolutionize the surrounding school districts with the message of God. I thought I’d share some thoughts and ideas on how you as a student, can revolutionize your school:

1.) Get on Fire For God Yourself- You can’t give what you don’t have. Fall in love with God, spend time with Him, get in His Word, come to Rev, find friends who will talk God with you, etc.

2.) Don’t Just Talk, Live It – Anyone can talk a good game, anyone can say they’re a Christian, but are you actually living it? When you say your a Christian, you represent Jesus everywhere you go. If you’re talking it, but not living it, you’ll be considered a hypocrite, and people will run from God.

3.) Be Bold – This is probably the hardest step for students. Being bold and standing up for what you believe, regardless of what comes against you. You’ll have to say no to things that you may want to say yes to, you may be made fun of for not doing what everyone else is doing, or you may not get to go to all the places everyone else does. BUT, I promise you that long term it’s worth it. You’ll establish yourself as a leader, you’ll earn people’s respect (regardless of what they say), and ultimately people will see you living a life that they wish they could. Then comes your opportunity to share your faith with them. BE BOLD! (Joshua 1:9)

4.) Invite Friends to Revolution - One of the best ways to Revolutionize your school is get friends to go to youth group with you. Talk about Rev as much as you can, talk about all the sweet events, act like it’s the best thing going on in Pittsburgh (Cause it is!), then grab your friends and say, “You gotta come!!!” Whatever it takes, get them here!

5.) Respect the School and it’s Policies – This is the most important. You can be doing all these things, but if you’re doing them by breaking school rules and policies, you’re going to Unrevolutionize your school. Remember, your life will speak louder than anything. Live the life, respect the school, and watch God revolutionize your school.

I recently heard of some testimonies from school districts in South Carolina being revolutionized by teenagers from a certain youth group. Teachers were giving testimonies of how their lives were changed as a result of what God was doing in students lives. Entire school districts were and are becoming on fire for God. I believe that is what God has called us to here at Revolution. We can’t do it without you. Your the ones who can and will Revolutionize your schools!

Are you up to the challenge?

What are you going to do with what God’s put in you?

Will your high school be different because you went there?

You are the Revolution

I had an interesting night last night – I could have done a few things, but I really felt like I need to spend some time reading and getting in the Word – so I ended up at Starbucks for a night of reading by myself.

About an hour and a half into my reading a young man (25 years old) nicknamed “Whadow” came down and asked if he could sit with me. I said yes and continues reading. He was looking over a bunch of things that he wrote on a legal pad. He then asked me what book I was reading and I answered – and continued reading again. God started dealing with my heart to have a conversation with this guy (usually – I don’t like being interrupted from what I’m doing and find it very inconvenient – anyone else like this?)

He asked me what I do and I told him that I work at a church – to which he responded – that’s just crazy man. I had to laugh and then I asked him why? He went on to share with me that he was just listening to a DMX song about God (does this suprise anyone else?) and recently he has really been seeking out God. But he feared that he’d gone too far away from God for him ever to be accepted.

He went on to tell me his story and all of the troubles he has been through (he’s had it pretty tough). How in the darkest moments of his life, God intervened. Once through a random man who came up to him and told him about a prayer he’d prayed in private the night before and assured Him that God loved Him and had a plan for Him, to a lady with tarot cards telling him a “higher power” was looking out for Him and that he needed to come to Pittsburgh (not sure how all that works out in God’s view – but hey it moved this guy), and now he met me and got invited to church and 19 North – to which he plans on coming to both.

Now – I have no idea where God is going to take this guy – but I know He’s going to do big things! I told this story for several reasons:

It was a wake-up call for me: I remember going places with Zack Blair and him challenging me when we’d walk in. He’d say, “I bet you can’t get 5 people saved”. I remember always thinking about the lost outside of the four walls of the church – but the deeper I get into the whole church thing – the harder it is to reach people on the outside (of course I’m talking about reaching people outside of the means of the church). I need to constantly remind myself that people I see wherever I go need Jesus – not just all of the people who come to Revolution or Church.

Do What You’re Supposed to be Doing - One thing God’s been teaching me lately is that we can live our lives in such a way that everything we do has a purpose. Every conversation, every place we go, etc.. See – I could have done a million other things last night – but I felt like I was supposed to go to Starbucks – and as a result someones destiny may be changed forever. Live your life in a way where there is purpose in everything you do. People who get into sin often aren’t doing what they’re supposed to be doing.

People Need You When They Need You – I just heard someone say that Love is spelled T-I-M-E. That is a fact. You can say you love someone, but until you give them your time – your word mean nothing. I am a very agenda driven person – when I’m doing something – I do not want to be bothered. It can be extremely inconvienient to give people my time. However, if I’m not flexible and willing to allow God to use my time – I’ll never make the impact God intended me to make.

This was a bit long – I learned a lot of other things – maybe you’ll hear some other time!

Are you living your life on purpose?

You never know whos destiny could be changed forever if you just do what you’re supposed to do.
