Only You Know

“Don’t settle for average. Bring your best to the moment. Then, whether it fails or succeeds, at least you know you gave all you had. We need to live the best that’s in us.” ~Angela Bassett

I was having lunch with a friend the other day and we were talking about leadership. I was telling him that I love growing, but my biggest fear is that one day I’ll be capped. One day, I’ll be labeled of going as far as I could go. That thought is always in the back of my mind.

My friend paused for a moment, looked into my eyes, and said, “Bubba, I think deep down inside everyone knows whether or not they are growing to their maximum potential.”

Are People Depending On You?

“The world can get along without you. Part of life is understanding that you don’t want people to be dependent on you.” -Rick Warren

This is a huge lesson I am learning. The older I get and the more I grow, the less I want people dependent on me and the more dependent I want people to be on God.

Don’t Compare Your Gift

6 In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. 7 If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. 8 If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly. ~Romans 12:6-8

Do you ever compare your gift with the gift God has given others? It’s so easy to desire the gifts that other people have rather than recognize the potential the gifts God has given us!
