From the Least to the Greatest

“The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. 32 Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.” -Matthew 13:31-32

The mustard seed is one of the smallest seeds, yet it grows into massive tree! That is quite a trip for the mustard seed! God wants to take us on trips just like that in our own lives!

Jesus said that is what the Kingdom of Heaven is like. Just as God takes a mustard seed grows it from a small seed to a huge tree, God wants to take us from areas of our lives that we are inadequate in, and grow us into a place where we are blossoming!

Think about this:

God can take us from the least to the greatest

From the dumbest, to the smartest!

From the slowest, to the fastest!

From the poorest, to the richest!

From the hated, to the most liked!

From the depressed, to the happiest!

From a failure, to a winner!

From the ugliest, to the most attractive!

From the least liked, to the most popular!

From a follower, to a leader!

From the ______ to the ________!

I don’t know where you are in life right now. You may feel like a mustard seed. You may feel like the least, the poorest, the slowest, the dumbest, the …you name it. It doesn’t matter what you feel like right now.

What matters is where God can take you if you’ll follow Him. Wherever you are in life right now, start putting God first, and I promise you, you’ll see that area of your life that was the worst, and you’ll watch God make it the best!

You Have a Voice

And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.                                                                                               -Mark 16:15

Do you ever doubt yourself? Doubt anyone will listen to you? Doubt you are making a difference? Doubt that you matter? Doubt that your work is making a difference? I know I do all the time, but then I will have someone share with me that I have made a difference in their life and it encourages me to keep going.

I got the following message on Facebook from someone I have not talked to in 10-12 years. I get messages like this often and they always encourage me to keep going:

“Bubba, I’ve been meaning to get in touch with you. I have been following your postings and reading your blogs. Honestly, everything you write is extremely uplifting. I could have the worst day and I will read a quote you posted and it will immediately make me feel better! I want you to know, you have very much made an impact on me, and I’m sure so many others…”
you matter You Have a Voice
I don’t share that to make myself look good, I share it because I want want to encourage you. What you have to say matters. When I get messages like this, I am reminded that what I have to say matters. A lot of you think that if you write a blog post, tweet a tweet, preach a sermon, share the Word with someone, or just simply call or text someone to encourage them, that it won’t really matter. That is a lie. The truth is: It does matter. It matters a lot. What you say matters.

When you believe you have something to say, and you say it: you never know who you could impact through your words. When you encourage a friend, you never know what you’re helping them get through. When you share the gospel with someone, it could change their life forever.

Bottom Line: You could change the world through what You have to say!

The best part: If you’re a Christian, God already gave us our message. We just have to share it with the world. In everything you say, just point people to Him, if you do, you’ll make an incredible impact in your lifetime.

So keep blogging, keep tweeting, keep preaching, keep getting the word out. Whether you know it or not, people are paying attention to you. You have a voice. You matter. Believe it!

You’re Not Trusting God

Proverbs 3:5-12 – Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil!

When I was 18, I did an internship at my church. I had one problem with it: I wasn’t allowed to date. I didn’t like this because I was in love with a girl! The pastor over the interns sat me down and said that I’d have to cut off my relationship with the girl for one year to focus on God.

I was filled with anxiety. Filled with fear. Filled with stress…and Filled with questions: What if she meets someone else? What if she forgets about me? What if I don’t end up with her?

I thought there were valid questions, so I brought them up to the pastor overseeing me. He looked at me and said, “Bubba, you’re not trusting God.”

trust1 Youre Not Trusting God

That statement hit me like a ton of bricks. It was true, I wasn’t trusting God. A few days later, the pastor sent me this scripture in a text and said it was for me:

You (God) will keep in perfect peace, all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Isaiah. 26:3

From that moment on, I start fixing my thoughts and my heart on God instead of my questions, fear, and anxiety. As I started putting God first, I became more and more confident in Him. Over time, I learned to trust Him with all of my heart.

The Result: After the internship, I got the girl and now, 9 years later… I’m still with that girl! Even though it wasn’t always easy, I trusted God, and He came through.

If you are stressed, don’t have peace, are anxious, or rules by fear, ask yourself this question: Am I trusting God? If you don’t have peace, rest, and confidence, then most likely the answer to that question is no. If that is the case… start focusing on God.

No matter what you’re going through today, Trust God. Keep your eyes, your heart, and thoughts focused on Him. If you’ll do that, you’ll gain a peace and a confidence in your heart that you have never had before.

Trust Him…with Everything.
