In Spite of You, In Spite of Me

9But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. - II Cor. 12:9-10

Do you ever feel overwhelmed with what you’re not? With where you’re not? With how far you feel like you have to go?

I know I do, and if I’m not careful, I can let those thoughts sink me. Sink me into a position where I feel paralyzed by my inability or my weaknesses.

When we are in these positions, it’s pivotal we believe what God says. The Bible says where we are weak, He is strong, that our weaknesses allow the perfect opportunity for God to show up in our lives.

It’s true that in ourselves we are nothing, we can do nothing, and we have nothing. But in Him, we have everything, we are everything, and we can do anything.

God wants to work in and through us in spite of you, and in spite of me. The Bible, with a list in Hebrews 11, is filled with people that God used mightily in spite of themselves. He did it for them, and He’ll do it for you.

So stop getting depressed about what you’re not, your weaknesses, and your shortcomings, and start giving them all to God, because He’s going to use you in spite of you!

Take a Walk with God

Creation is God’s handiwork, his fingerprint. Designed to evoke awe and provoke fear, his works speak volumes for their creator. Indeed, even the “invisible things” of our God are “clearly seen” in that which he has made…     -Romans 1:20

I love traveling. I love going somewhere and being able to take the time to just stand in awe at the splendor of God’s creation.

When I stand at the shore of an ocean I can’t help but grasp how big God is and how small I am. I can’t look at the night sky and not be in awe of the 6609 525149599478 64702156 31210132 1785702 n 225x300 Take a Walk with God beauty of God’s creation.

However, all too often, I find myself waiting until I’m on a vacation at the beach or at the top of a mountain to really appreciate everything that God has created, or to take the time to just be still and just know that He is God.

I took a walk through a neighborhood park the other day and just spent time getting quiet with God and really admiring His creation. Too be honest, I can’t put into words how awesome that time with God was.

It made me recognize life is short, and we only get so many sun rises to watch, so many sunsets, so many springs, summers, falls, and winters. But all too often, we miss out on the splendor of it all, because we never take the time to enjoy it.

When was the last time you took a walk with God? When was the last time you enjoyed a sunrise? A sunset? A winter snowfall? A spring morning?

People always want to see miracles, and If we’ll just take the time to look, we’ll start seeing miracles all around us in the splendor of God’s creation.

I’m Going Back

5Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.      -Revelation 2:5

I was reading Primal, when I read this verse, and I had to pause and repent. I was reminded through the book that we need to get back to the place where loving God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength is ALL that matters.

newbeginnings 300x225 Im Going Back I started looking at my walk with God and recognized that I’m not where I should be. God brought me back a few years to the place in my life where all that mattered was pursuing Him, not advancing in ministry, not building my reputation, not worrying about what anyone thought of me, but just Knowing Him.

I had to repent of getting so off track and focused on myself and building my kingdom, when all that really matters is Him.

My prayer is that we’ll all go back and as Jesus said, “Do the Works we did at first.”

God really is all that matters. I’m going back…Are You?
