The Perfect Day Off?

I had the day off yesterday and had a great time… it got me thinking. What does the perfect day off look like? Here are a few things that are included on my perfect day off:

  • Starbucksok… so maybe this is an everyday treat… but I love the Bux!
  • Reading - I love reading books and I could spend hours in Sbux, bookstores, and other places with my nose in books.
  • Running - I think I am actually addicted to running now… it’s my quiet place to get away and spend some time with God, worship, and listen to some sick sermons!
  • Movies - I’m a huge movie buff… Going to the movies is one of my favorite things to do
  • Gaming - I’m not a big gamer, but I go enjoy playing some Wii here and there… my next purchase…Super Mario Galaxy
  • Hanging with friends – going to a park or playground and just hanging out always makes for a great time on my day off.
  • Going out to eat – usually when I go out to eat it’s after a long day of work or after church and it’s late. On my day off I can really take my time and enjoy the people I’m with and grub until I can’t move!

I’d like to hear from you… What do you do on your days off that you absolutely love?

Book Review: Thriving Youth Groups

Finally picked this book up and read it! I got it at a conference in February and have been putting it off forever! I’ve been on staff with our youth now for just about 8 months. It’s been a great journey, and I am actually glad I read it at this point.

Obviously I wouldn’t recommend this book to somebody who is not in youth ministry. However, if you’re currently a youth pastor, leader, or volunteer and you’re looking for wisdom when it comes to youth min… I would definitely recommend this book. Jeanne Mayo has had tremendous fruit in every youth ministry she has run and she has been in youth min for over 30 years!!! Final Grade: A (For Youth Ministry People haha)

People I’d Like to Have Lunch With (Part 3)

So far I’ve stayed pretty much with Christian leaders that I’ve wanted to have lunch with. Here is my list of Non-Christian (I just mean that they aren’t Pastors or in ministry… not talking about their belief system) that I’d love to sit down with:

#5 Howard Schultz - Ok… I am addicted to this mans work! This guy got people paying $2+ for a cup of coffee (SO WORTH IT!). I’d love to ask him questions, but really I’d just like to thank him for giving the world Starbucks!

#4 Bill Gates - Richest man in the world… has changed the world through his work. Who wouldn’t want to sit down and ask this guy questions?

#3 Steve Jobs - What this man has done with Apple Inc. has been unbelievable… Mac’s have changed my life! It would be awesome to get into this guys head!

#2 Barack O’Bama or John McCain – One of these two men will be the next leader of this country . . . again, regardless of what you think of them… it’d be great to sit down with these guys.

#1
George Bush or Bill Clinton – Presidents of the United States of America… Regardless of what you think of them… they could teach you a lot!
